Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther King Jr!

Today as a nation we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Tomorrow the world witnesses what I'm sure will be recorded as the most historical inauguration of any president in our country's history.
We should all feel blessed in being able to live long enough to experience such a major step in our continuous climb up this ladder of equality.
I've heard many say that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did not live long enough to see this. I beg to differ. This is just a portion of the dream, the vision that he so eloquently spoke of and was able to "see" long before any of us were able to even imagine it.
As a people and a nation, we still have lots of work to do.
Let's not put this all on the shoulders of one man.
Many of our communities are in dire need of us simply rolling up our sleeves, digging our heels in the ground and getting busy.
We all know of a neighbor, single parent, child, or even a family member who is in need of some sort of assistance.
Don't turn a blind eye to this.
Every time that a young person commits a crime, it is a cry out for help. Respond to this need.
As long as we continue to just talk about all of this nothing changes.
It's time for us to BE the change that we all desire. It's time for all of us to ask ourselves if we are going to be a part of the problem or a part of the solution
President Obama has made it very clear on many occasions that he cannot do this by himself.
Let's all support President Barack Obama and take the personal responsibility to make a difference in our homes, schools, and communities.
In doing so we will all reach the top of that ladder and eventually level the playing field just as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. envisioned.
